Opposites Collide

The Westernisation of any culture means change. This series looks deeper into the consistent evolution, and loss, of ‘The Himba’s’ traditions.
The subjects in the painting linger on the edges of the canvas creating a incomplete and fragmented story.

The simplification of an image and the placement of objects out of context, intrigues the viewer to question further the impact our Western lifestyle has on these semi nomadic tribes.

“What doesn’t adapt, dies....that’s Darwin!” Everything moves forward and changes but my paintings hopefully allow for further contemplation on the debate.
