At the start of this year I agreed to provide a modern piece to the Animal Health Trust for their charitable auction in conjunction with the Horse About Town festival in Newmarket this summer.

This particular painting was inspired by the ‘Almost Done’ series and the picture is taken by photographer Amy Lanigan at her husband’s yard of their two girls reaching up to stroke one of the horses.

The emotional attachment we have to animals is special, and that can make it hard to capture in a portrait especially where there are no human faces, and the painting is…only almost done. Nevertheless, this has had some fantastic feedback and we hope it fetches a great price for the charity at the end of the year.
